We started with some beef cows in 2005 and our herd has grown each year. We raise a mix of Simmental, Angus and Hereford. I finally convinced hubby that we should get a nurse cow. We found a little jersey cow that would accept any calf on the Coast so off we headed. The poor little cow had been milking for over 2 years with different calves on her, she was very underfed and needed some serious groceries. Kira came home with us, we got her dried of and game her time to gain some weight back. In the spring she started cycling again and we put her in with our bull. She had a little heifer calf that the kids named Thumbleina (She is still in our herd) . Kira was a cow that was easier to handle than a dog and we brought her to our little community Fall Fair Parade dressed as a Hula girl complete with a grass skirt. She took it all in stride and loved all the attention. We really love the Jersey breed and now raise Family Milk cows as well.
We are a family based farm that love what we do!
